MotoGP: Sepang

28 October 2009 – 4:59pm

Once again, Casey Stoner was proving he could have challenged for the championship if he hadn’t of been off sick for 3 races by destroying the field and having a 18+ second advantage at one point!

He crossed the line with a 14 second gap over Pedrosa with Rossi coming in at 3rd, having claimed his 9th World Championship with 7 in the MotoGP class, this marks Rossi as one of the best, if not the best rider of all time.

The final race of the season is at Valencia in 2 weeks time (8th November) it sure will be a great race as it’s Pedrosa and Lorenzo’s home grand-prix, however Stoner is back at his best and Rossi is just Rossi, you can never count him out of a victory at any circuit.
Stoner was back at the top of his game for his home grand-prix by beating Rossi with just under 2 seconds gap, you almost had time to switch the kettle on as Pedrosa who finished in 3rd place was over 20 seconds behind!

The race was a fairly easy one for Stoner, as Lorenzo crashed out on the first lap, Rossi then tried catching Stoner but after realising Lorenzo had crashed out seemed to back-off and settle for 2nd place.

Great finish between Melandri and De Puniet for respectable 7th and 8th place it was also confirmed that American World Superbikes rider Ben Spies will be taking James Toselands ride for next year and Toseland will be heading back into World Superbikes.
