MotoGP: Indianapolis

Pedrosa was the fastest in all practice sessions and also got pole position. Great start by Pedrosa extending his lead, Rossi had a good start, passing Lorenzo. Pedrosa was looking good until he couldn’t seem to lift the bike up for a left-hand corner and ended up losing the bike under him, handing Rossi 1st place with Lorenzo closely behind him with 24 laps remaining.

Lorenzo took the lead with 20 laps remaining but Rossi didn’t seem to “cut-back” and try get in the lead, as we all know Rossi likes to “follow” rather than lead. The next lap saw Rossi lose the bike from under him as well which left Lorenzo all alone in 1st place, Rossi went into the pits the next lap and ended his chances of finishing the race.

The rest of the race was plain sailing for Lorenzo as he took the chequered flag lowering the gap to Rossi in the championship to only 25 points (one race win). 2nd place when to rookie DeAngelis and 3rd place went to struggling former world-champion Nicky Hayden with Dovisiozo just behind in 4th place.
