YouTube Account Unsuspended
22 April 2009 – 10:37amWell, it turns out that YouTube have unbanned/unsuspended my account! Wooo!
Although they’ve unbanned/unsuspended my account, in my account settings it still says “in good standing” and that I haven’t commited or broke any rules, maybe them banning me was just a mistake then?
The YouTube support is really bad in my honest opinion, I never received 1 email stating why my account was suspended or when it was unsuspended, the only email I got was an auto-responding message to when I filled in a form on the YouTube website asking for more information on why my account was banned, this came back as “breaking Community Guidelines”, the email also said “we are unable to provide specific details regarding your account suspension or your video’s removal” which leaves me to believe they really don’t care about their users, even though, without users their site would be worth nothing and none of the staff would have jobs.
Their “ban first and ask questions later” way of regarding to users is a real piss-take in my opinion, especially since they actually don’t even “ask questions later” it’s annoying when you’re innocent and you’ve been banned for breaking rules/guidelines when you clearly haven’t.
In my opinion they should contact users (via email) and state which videos or text comments/responses have broken their rules, YouTube should then automatically hide the comment or video (make it unwatchable), let the user then reply and plea their case, if no arrangement is made then YouTube should remove the video/comment for good.
The worest thing about been banned/suspended is that you can’t actually log into your account and view your “My Videos”, there is no way to download your videos to your computer, so always keep a copy on your computer incase this ever happens to you!
