Muted For Breaking Rule 11
18 March 2009 – 5:35pmAs you’ve probably gathered from reading the blog title, I’ve been muted (for 9 days) for breaking rule 11, which is website advertising. Here’s the evidence in case you’re wondering what was said;
3___hit___u: [clan] nah, i get noticed in town anyway, not cos of net stuff
3___hit___u: [clan] just cause i look and wear weird **** lol
3___hit___u: [clan] hell yeah
3___hit___u: [clan] no women can turn down a guy in tshirthell and purple hair
3___hit___u: [clan] theres one on my blog and a few vids of me on tube
3___hit___u: [clan] one showing my new tshirthell shirts, check it out
3___hit___u: [clan] quite abusive, so if u have kids dont watch it
3___hit___u: [clan] zooomg when do ****** pay m1?
3___hit___u: [clan] me
3___hit___u: [clan] was green in one of the vids lol
3___hit___u: [clan] and it was blue a few weeks ago
3___hit___u: [clan] the picture made me look like a right kiddy fiddler
3___hit___u: [clan] hmm
3___hit___u: [clan] i want to know what the buy-limit is on partyhats
3___hit___u: [clan] does anyone know? i think its 10
So I went to read the Rule 11 rules which can be found here.
So here’s my appeal;
I’ve read through the evidence and I see no messages of me advertising any website, the one website I mention “Google” is starred out, so it voids what I say, meaning I can’t be reported for it as I’m not filter-evading, however, I also mention “tube” referring to YouTube of course, but RuneScape allows you to say this in public chat so surely it’s a trusted word to be able to say it.
As you can see I covered all the points which relate to the rule I apparently broke and my appeal simply got denied, even though I actually haven’t broken the rule, Jagex really need to sort out their customer services.

Jagex are way overboard on their censorship of words and advertising, Google, Youtube and blogging are just a part of a lot of peoples runescape life….
Whichever reason they muted you under, is idiocy….. They just have no concept of reality with this

Iron fist. It doesn’t help that the people viewing appeals (ie, the customer support staff) are in all likelihood high school students or university students doing work placement.
You’d think that a game that is described by its creators as entertainment for teenagers and adults would be a little less concerned with overzealous censoring, or censoring things that are completely acceptable such as everyday websites.
One of the things that I can’t understand is that they mute you or at the very least give you an infraction for revealing information about yourself. I’m an adult; what business is it of theirs if I was to reveal personal details.
Sorry for replying to an old entry, but I figured I’d vent.
Stuff like this shits me.
