Head Of RuneScape & My Name

So, just lately I’ve been reading countless forums about Jagex hiring a new Head Of RuneScape and every forums seems to be mentioning my name and linking it to the position .

However, it also seems that the majority of people have the wrong idea of what this job actually is, so I’ll tell you.

Firstly, there have already been many Heads’ Of RuneScape the most previous being Imre (who left over a month ago) and you will have not noticed any difference in the types of updates that Jagex make. What I’m saying is although Imre or Mark who I think were the Heads Of RuneScape at some point Andrew (creator) still has the “Yes/No” to if that update gets passed onto the Content Team (which is lead by Henrique at the moment).

So, what I’m basically saying is say someone wanted the Wilderness back, they produce the idea, and brainstorm it with their co-workers and then pass the idea onto Andrew, if he says “Yes” then the update can be produced, if he says “No” they scrap the idea (or re-work it) and just start something new, you could have the best idea in the world and if you get a “No” it’s scrapped or re-worked into a way which Andrew sees’ fit, which is fair I believe, after all, he did develop it with his brother so he should have the final say but it would be nice to see something unique or for their updates to be less predictable.

So, as I said at the beginning of the Blog, I have been reading countless forums about Jagex hiring a new Head Of RuneScape and just about every one of them has my name mentioned about me applying for the job and some forums saying more than others about this…

So just to let you know, Jagex have found a new Head Of RuneScape (I don’t know if it’s permanent) but it’s Christoph, he used to be the leader in the Snapshot/Ban-appeal team.

I do wish Jagex, well Andrew (I guess he decides, I don’t actually know) would employ someone from the RuneScape scene, hell, I’d even do that job for half the wage they’re getting, I believe RuneScape has massive potential and has been opened to a whole new audience with the new HD release, but what are the chances of Jagex getting in touch with me? Sure loads are better qualified than myself, but from all the people who apply, I’m very sure I have the most experience around RuneScape itself, not just from the “PvP” scene but from a “Skilling” and “Questing” point of view as well, even though I really do dislike Quests, but I’m sure I could make them more interesting, attractive and worth-while for everyone, I’d especially love to make my own Quest Requirements and Rewards for a Quest.

Who knows what will happen when the dust is settled with HD’s final release, all I know for sure is RuneScape will have over 200,000 players playing most of the time and 250,000+ playing at peak-times, does this mean laggy servers?

Anyway, with my name being mentioned in the running for the Head Of RuneScape, if I don’t get the job I will do more work than before in posting my ideas on the official forums and I will also be telling in-game Moderators my ideas (if I ever see any) and they have time for a quick chat, as I’m sure they have a pen and paper next to their mouse mat, I know for sure they definitely have coasters for their coffee!
